The truth is often stranger than fiction.
Consider the following examples:
- Not once in the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme does it mention that he’s an egg.
Hippo milk is pink.
- The heart of a blue whale is so big, a human can swim through the arteries.
There are more fake flamingos in the world than real flamingos.
- There are more stars in space than there are grains of sand on every beach on Earth.
- There is more processing power in a ti-83 calculator than in the computer that landed Apollo 11 on the moon.
- A thousand seconds is about 16 minutes.
- A million seconds is about 11 days
- A billion seconds is about 32 years
- And one trillion second is about 32,000 years.
Now hear some stranger than true facts about braces.
- Archaeologists have discovered mummies with crude bands of metal wrapped around their teeth. The metal was wrapped around each individual tooth, and it is believed that ancient dentists used catgut to guide the teeth and close the gaps.
- Brackets were invented by Edward Angle in 1915. They were not bonded to the teeth directly, but instead were attached to bands that went around the teeth.
- Actress Faye Dunaway got braces at the age of 61.
